This page explains how Maths, Sorted handles your personal information and the terms that apply to our tutoring. If anything is unclear, email mathssortedrsa@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp.
Privacy policy
Maths, Sorted is an online Maths tutoring service run by Fowzaan Iqbal. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Fowzaan is responsible for your information and acts as our Information Officer. You can reach him at mathssortedrsa@gmail.com.
What we collect
- When you enquire: your name, your learner's name, your WhatsApp number and email, your learner's grade and current Maths mark, what they're finding hard, their goals, preferred lesson times and the package you're interested in.
- During tutoring: lesson notes, progress notes, worksheets and work your learner shares with us, and details of upcoming tests and exams.
- For payments: EFT payment references and dates. We never ask for or store card or banking passwords.
Information about learners
Most of our learners are under 18. We only collect a learner's information when a parent or guardian gives it to us or agrees to it, and we only use it to tutor them. We won't use a learner's name, work, results or testimonial in marketing without a parent or guardian's written permission.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and recommend a package
- To schedule, prepare and run lessons, and to create worksheets and learning plans
- To send you progress updates and admin messages
- To keep track of payments
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for anything unrelated to tutoring.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted services to run Maths, Sorted, and they process information on our behalf:
- FormSubmit, which delivers website enquiries to our email
- Google (Gmail, Drive and Meet) for email, resources and lessons
- Zoom for lessons, where used
- WhatsApp for messages and admin
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel on this website, to measure our ads
Some of these services store information outside South Africa. We only use providers with appropriate protections in place. We'll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires it.
Cookies and ad tracking
This website uses the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It uses cookies to record things like which pages you visit, whether you tap our WhatsApp or email links, and whether you send an enquiry. This helps us see which of our ads actually reach parents who need us, and show our ads to people likely to be interested.
The pixel doesn't send us or Meta the details you type into the enquiry form, such as your name, number or your learner's details. Meta handles the data it collects under its own privacy policy.
You can limit this by blocking cookies in your browser settings, or by changing your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings. The website still works fully if you do.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your learner is tutoring with us and for up to 12 months after lessons end, in case you return. After that we delete it, unless we need to keep a record for tax or legal reasons. If you enquire but don't sign up, we delete your enquiry after 6 months.
Keeping it safe
Your information is kept in password-protected accounts that only Fowzaan can access. Lessons are not recorded unless you ask us to and give permission.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see the information we hold, correct it, or delete it, or tell us to stop using it. Email mathssortedrsa@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Terms
Lessons
- Lessons are 60 minutes, one-on-one, online via Google Meet or Zoom.
- Your learner needs a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and a quiet space to work.
- We'll agree on regular lesson times when you sign up.
Packages and payment
- Packages are paid monthly in advance by EFT. Banking details are shared on WhatsApp.
- Lesson times are confirmed once payment reflects.
- Prices are listed on our website. If they change, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.
Rescheduling and cancellations
- You can reschedule a lesson with at least 24 hours' notice, subject to availability.
- Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, count as used.
- Rescheduled lessons need to be used within the same month. Unused lessons don't roll over into the next month.
- If we need to cancel, we'll reschedule the lesson or credit it to your next month.
- If loadshedding or a connection problem on our side cuts a lesson short, we'll make up the missed time.
Stopping lessons
You can stop at any time by letting us know before your next month's payment. Months already paid for aren't refundable, but you can still use all the lessons in that month.
WhatsApp is for scheduling, admin and sharing resources. Quick questions are welcome, but it isn't a replacement for lessons, so bigger questions will be covered in the next lesson.
Worksheets and resources
Worksheets and resources are made by Maths, Sorted for your learner's personal use. Please don't share, sell or republish them.
Results
We'll always work hard to help your learner improve, but every learner is different, so we can't guarantee specific marks or results.
Changes to this page
We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
